Crimson Tide is a series of collages about a girl’s silent journey into adulthood. The work is a re-interpretation of William Blake’s poem ‘The Sick Rose’. It talks about the inevitable death of childhood that takes place when a girl grows to become a woman. The girl as she is reborn enters a strange world filled with fantasies and experiences.

The eight lines in the poem translate as 8 layers of artwork. The final form of the work was executed as a pop-up booklet. Digital images from public archives have been combined with illustrations and assembled to form the booklet.
